Muddy Boots Photography: A Father’s Day giveaway

NOW CLOSED

Congratulations to Suzanne for winning this amazing giveaway!

Ever wonder what to get a dad that has everything? I mean, besides a fabulous mate and great kids, what more could a man want?

How about some lovely photos with said mate and kids.

We hosted our first giveaway this past Mother’s Day (thanks again to Anna Epp Photography!) so we thought it was only fair that we do the same for Father’s Day.

Please welcome Muddy Boots Photography! You may remember Amy from her post about sheep shearing at the Canadian Agricultural Museum. Amy is the homeschooling, photographing mom of 7 year old Liam, 3 1/2 year old Simon, and 16 month old Andrew. She blogs at Muddy Boots and her photography can be found at Muddy Boots Photo.

And here she is to tell you all about our fabulous Father’s Day giveaway.

Recently I got the following feedback from a family session:

Amy the pictures are amazing, fabulous and I cannot thank you enough. I’ve watched the slideshow three times and can’t get through without bawling my eyes out!! You captured a side of my family that I know, but no one else gets a chance to see – it’s there now in the look of the eyes and off guard poses….they are absolutely fabulous pictures. I will have to look at the slide show everytime the kids are driving me nuts…

That’s why I do this… to make moms cry!
In all seriousness, my goal for each session is to do just what that client described… to capture the true personality of my subjects. Nothing overly posed. Nothing formal. Nothing contrived. But rather unguarded, genuine moments between people who love each other.

Our fave way to celebrate Father’s Day is to look back at the last years worth of photos and talk about all the great things the kids got to do with their Dad and I during the year.

  10. Oh man, I totally want to win this. I’ve been thinking of doing the family portrait thing for a while.

This morning for Father’s Day I made fresh cinnamon buns for breakfast and I think we have a new tradition! Yum. Definitely my favourite way to celebrate Father’s Day!

  11. And, I am already a fan of Muddy Boots on Facebook. Yay!

My son just turned one. He is a very active little boy, and likes to have people to play with. So what better way to spend Father’s Day, than to play with daddy! I LOVE pictures, and can’t get enough of them. Unfortunately, we don’t have very many pictures with all three of us in them. For Father’s Day, I made a t-shirt for my husband with a picture of both of them on it. He has been wearing it for 2 days now! I hope we win this so we can finally get great family pictures. My husband might even get a new t-shirt out of it!

Our all-time favorite Father’s Day activity is to drive out to the cheese factory at St-Albert (about a half-hour drive from the city) and pick up cheeses for later. We have ice cream cones while we’re there, play outdoors for a while and then drive home. We get the benefit of adult conversation in the car and we enjoy fresh cheese from the farm when we get home!

Best way to spend father’s day…on an African safari! That’s where my dad is now, in a photographer’s heaven.

  17. Sara

Well this is our first year with a little one so no grand traditions yet… So far we are relaxing & enjoying each others company which is a great way to celebrate the day. Hubby stated he’s going to the driving range this afternoon so he may be starting his own tradition. He sure does deserve it!!!

  18. Stephanie

We had a great Father’s Day WEEKEND extravaganza! Saturday was just for DH & myself, I surprised hubby with a ByWard Market Walking Food Tour (hosted by @Cestboncooking on Twitter), and Sunday was brunch with my dad, my husband, and our son. It was a really fabulous weekend!

Best way to celebrate Father’s Day for us is at the cottage, hands down! We make Daddy breakfast and let him sleep in, and then make sure he gets plenty of time to enjoy the day doing what he wants! We try to make him a little gift too!

  27. Allison

    I’ve become a Facebook fan too! 🙂

  28. Krista

Fav way to celebrate is spoiling dad – sleeping in, homemade deluxe breakfast, loads of play time with the kiddies, new toys and lots of love from all!

  29. For father’s day this year, we were getting our son’s forehead stitched up! So I guess my favorite way to spend it is the opposite of that.

In all seriousness though, other than that, our day was great. A day at a family BBQ playing by the pool.

  30. I’m a fan on FB. Shannon R B.

  31. We went camping and spent the day on the water and BBQ’ing. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate!!

  32. Katherine

We planned to spend Father’s Day catching up on sleep, but the babe had other plans so we snuggled and had a nice breakfast instead!

Great contest! Would so love to win because we never get pictures of the 3 of us together.

We spent our first fathers day as a family. Hubby got to sleep in while my 11 month old son and I made breakfast for him. We gave him a present with a laminated little footprint of his son with a sweet poem on the back. Then we had a bubble-blowing extravaganza on the lawn. He got to relax and watch the World Cup while baby napped, then we all took a walk to the park to play on the swings. Daddy carried baby in his front carrier, both looking so happy it made me get teary-eyed! After baby went to bed for the night, hubby and I recounted all the wonderful moments he and baby have had in the past 11 months. We both got teary then! What a great day.

  36. Patricia murray

Dad gets breakfast in bed and then we spend the day doing activities he loves

  37. Suzy Kilby

Since this was my Hubby’s first father’s day it was extra special….we went out for breakfast, took a beautiful ride, went to a flea market and than went out to dinner. For us Father’s Day is truely about being together as a family and that’s what we did.

Can’t wait for next year 🙂

Our favorite way to spend Father’s Day is doing whatever my husband wants to do — usually something low-key like hanging out in our yard, watching the kids play, and a cold beer or two for “Dad”. 😉

    “Liked” you on Facebook!

  42. Great giveaway! Amy is an amazing photographer. The best way to celebrate Father’s Day? Make sure your kids make some cute crafts for daddy!

  43. Fabulous photos; I would love to win this. The last portraits we have are baby ones and are boys have changed so much!

Father’s Day this year was spent on a day trip to Montebello with the boys, my parents and my brother and his wife. A round of mini-golf, The Brunch, a few minutes with remote control cars on their special track, and an hour of frisby and catch on the lawn. The men and the boys loved it!

  44. We always pick a spot that he likes and go for a picnic or to play!

  45. Judy

My favorite way to celebrate is to give my husband a treat for being an awesome Dad and to just watch one quiet moment between him and our son.

  46. best way to celebrate? any way he wants;) – but sleeping in is always a good start!

(off to qualify two more times cuz i love your work!!!!)
