Bob MacQuarrie pool

by Vicky

Here’s a little tip for new parents wanting to take their babies swimming, or thinking about signing up for swimming lessons for the first time. The Bob MacQuarrie Recreational Complex (previously known as the Orleans Recreation Centre), has a heated kids pool!

The city offers a Preschool Swim on Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00pm from April 6 to June 27th. Check out the schedule for more public swimming times.

  1. This is close by but we’ve never gone. We go to Ray Friel because it’s like a beach… you can just walk right in to the water so it’s easy for toddlers to feel comfortable.

    Plus there’s a little slide.

What is great about the Bob MacQuarrie is the heated kids pool. We often to the family swim on Sundays – it is very quite we often have the pool to ourselves.

My three-year-old and I just finished swimming lessons at Bob MacQuarrie and had a great time. The warm water is bliss.

And there is a little slide. 🙂

  5. I definitly discovered this when I first signed my little one up for swimming lessons earlier this year at four months old! We went to Canterbury (our nearest pool – and I have a soft spot for it as I worked there in high school/university) but man it’s chilly for the little ones! Some of the poor babies were turning blue. We now swim at the OAC which is heated – sooo much better. We just do open swim, but I know they also do a mom and tot Aquafit that I’ve heard good things about (but Aquafit really isn’t my thing).
